I just got back from the Torrance Host signing and it was AMAZING!!!! This was my first time seeing Stephenie Meyer and between my sister and me we got all of our books signed. DHfreak joined us too and i seriously had the time of my life.
First of all, we got to the school at 10:00am and we were the first ones there, but we decided to leave and we came back like around two and there were people already there. We were still pretty up close between the three of us, we made up numbers 27, 28, 29 to get our books signed out of a thousand : ) (The event was also sold out). While waiting in line, we meet a lot of great people, who of course share an interest in anything Stephenie Meyer related. The doors were opened a little before 5:00pm and everyone started to crowd around the doors, but everything was really well organized. The only downside was we weren't allowed to take any type of pictures and we were threaten with being taken out so i didn't want to risk it.
Once inside, everyone greeted Stephenie with a huge round of applause and cheers that could have broken any sound meter. She came out and she answered a lot of new questions. I really don't remember all of them, but the most memorable ones were these (and of course of I'm going to paraphrase)
Why cheetos?
--She said that she tried to put herself in a world where she was deprived and the things that she would most miss would be cheetos and twinkies. "Come on everyone knows the smell of cheetos"
Which part of the book would the song The Ghost of You by My Chemical Romance (from the Host Playlist) fit the book best?
--Jared, she said, is the character that the song fits the most because when he sees Wanderer in Melanie's body, it’s as if he is seeing the ghost of Melanie and it’s not really her.
Why are Sharon and Maggie so mean to Wanderer when she risked like her entire life for them?
--Since the book is written in Wanderer's point of view, we all see that Wanderer is really compassionate and wouldn't hurt them, while, Sharon and Maggie see her as the monster who would take away your children.
Who do you prefer Jared or Ian?
--It all depends. Jared is the masculine type that would ride horses and wears cowboy hats, while, Ian is the type of guy that would read you poetry.
Which actress would she see playing the Seeker?
--meg gyllenhaal
Twilight Comments:
“Robert is Edward”. After a gigantic cheer, Stephenie went on to say that she is really happy with the whole cast and that they are all really talented and beautiful people. She expressed her excitement for the trailer and the amazing work everyone is putting behind it. She also said that she believes there will be a couple of break through actors. Ashley Greene, for instance, is amazing and that Twilight is her first movie.
She then answered a couple of more questions that hopefully dhfreak remembers (sorry I’m running on little sleep and I have a stats test tomorrow).
We finally started to move towards the stage and courtesy of dhfreak we had the “one of the best Twilight/Host shirts” Stephenie Meyer has ever seen. OMG at this point I think my heart was about to jump out of my chest. **hopefully dhreak will add a pic of the shirts with her review** I had never had the chance to meet Stephenie b/c I joined the Twilight fandom a little after Eclipse had come out. I actually had a small conversation with her. I told her I loved her books and The Host had made me cry, to which she replied, “It made me cry too!” We then talked a little about Jaime and then she had to continue signing books, but seriously this has been a pretty frickin’ awesome day!!!!
